Supermarket razed down by fire in Akwatia

Fire has gutted a supermarket at Akwatia and destroyed goods running into millions of cedis.

The fire according to residents started when they saw a thick smoke billowing from the shop.

Some items destroyed include assorted cooking oil, biscuits, drinks, milk, chocolates, rice, canned and powdered products

Eye witnesses say the fire had ravaged the whole supermarket before fire fighters from Kade and Asamankese arrived to put it out.

" We all saw the fire but we couldn't do anything about it so we had call the fire service people from Kade and when they came they run out of water by that time another tender came from Asamankese to help. They way the fire was severe they couldn't do anything about it.

Almost everything is destroyed running into millions of cedis. it's a very sad situation". They explained.

They appealed to government to get them a fire tender to help the district tackle fire issues on time.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
