Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Brong Ahafo Region, Kwame Baffoe Abronye is daring investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his mentor Kweku Baako to publicly swear by the Islamic Koran and Allah if they have never taken BRIBES over their investigative works.
Of his numerous allegations, he stressed that he knows of an alleged $3.5 million bribe to shelve an undercover investigation on Parliament.
This is not withstanding the fact that Anas Aremeyaw Anas has clarified that he has done no work on Parliament.
The undercover journalist revealed last year that he has not undertaken any investigative project on Ghana’s parliament.
“Did I tell you I was doing an investigation in parliament? When did I say this? Prove to me…I have not done any work in parliament. If I have done work in parliament I will release it,” he said in an interview on Accra-based Joy FM on Thursday 28 June 2018.
Some critics have accused Anas of being selective in his work and taking bribes to cover up some of his victims.
Information has been rife on social media that the award-winning journalist shelved his undercover documentary on parliament jn order to protect some people.
But Mr Anas insists: “I will be stupid to follow someone’s comments and because of that I come out with a story. I will make sure I prepare well because at the end of the day if I am sued you will not be there to help me, I have to be there to defend myself”
But despite all these denials, Abronye insists such a work exists and he is ready to also swear by the Bible that he is telling the truth, if Anas and Kwaku Baako would.
Abronye revealed that he knows instances when people paid bribes through third-parties to Anas and Kwaku Baako to have their names and images taken off videos of Anas and sometimes not to air it at all, and ‘Parliament Undercover’ is one such works.
Speaking on Ade Akye Ebia on Okay FM, Abronye DC said Kwaku Baako is the “chief bribe negotiator”, while Anas is the “collector”.
Abronye was warned by the host Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie on making unsubstantiated allegations against the two respected journalists but Abronye insisted he knows what he is talking about.
“I am daring Kwaku Baako and Anas to come and meet me and swear with Koran if they have not taken bribe before and change their video. Me, Kwame Baffoe Abronye I will also swear with my Bible that me and them the one who is lying something should happen.” he ranted.
“Where is the video of Parliament Undercover? They think we don’t know. Anas and his boss took $3.5m over that video. Even the judges own, some of the things didn't add up.” he said.
He said in any criminal case of bribe, the giver and the receiver have questions to answer.
