Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has likened the talent at the club to a diamond that needs polishing to shine.

The Ivorian coach made these remarks following their 2024 Homowo Cup victory over Heart of Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

The club has been active in the transfer market as they prepare for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. Only a few players from his starting lineup against Heart of Lions were part of Ouattara’s squad last season.

Despite the changes, Ouattara remains optimistic about the club's potential.

“These boys already have the talent. Now we want to perform. We need to work on their physical and psychological aspects to get the results. It’s not easy, but the talent is there. It’s like a diamond. When we take the diamond, we polish it before we sell it.

“We have time to prepare in just a few days—less than one month. I’m not worried about that. I know we can do it. These boys can deliver.”

The Rainbow lads narrowly avoided relegation last season on the final day. Hearts of Oak finished the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season in 14th position with 45 points.

A dramatic 3-2 victory in their final match against Bechem United helped the team avoid relegation.

Hearts of Oak are actively engaged in the transfer market to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
