Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has unveiled a tombstone for his former aide, Kwabena Boadu, who passed on a year ago.

Dr. Bawumia together with some members of the New Patriotic Party and family of his late aide on Friday, November 24, made a private visit to Kwabena Boadu's graveside at the Achimota Cemetery to say a prayer and lay wreaths in honour of his death.

In a Facebook post, the Vice President made a heartfelt tribute to mark the first anniversary of his former aide, describing him as an unassuming, caring and brilliant young man who became his rock.

According to him, he misses Kwabena every single day indicating that his life has never been the same since he passed away.

“My life has never been and will never be the same again. The pain never goes away. The void is too large to fill. I miss Kwabena every single day. He was an unassuming, caring and brilliant young man who became my rock. I keep asking God "why?".

“Kwabena, I miss you so much. You are my hero. May your soul rest in peace until we meet again,” he stated.

On November 24, 2016, the 30-year-old Kwabena Boadu was found dead in his hotel room in Wa, the Upper West regional capital, in the run-up to the general elections. It is believed he died from electrocution in his hotel room.

He was laid in state on Saturday, 4 February 2017 at the forecourt of the State House and buried at Achimota cemetery.

A Memorial Service will be held on December 3, 2017, at the Taifa Methodist Church.
