Wa Polytechnic Rector has been beating workers – POTAG Chairman

Chairman of the local chapter of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) at the Wa Polytechnic, Mr. Bami Mubash has alleged that suspended Rector Prof Emmanuel Marfo Owusu prior to his current predicament was noted for physically assaulting workers of the institution he had disagreements with.

He claimed the embattled Rector has been harassing everybody on campus adding that, after a committee was set to investigate allegations levelled against him, (Rector) he summoned a meeting and ordered the discontinuation of the work of the committee.

“He should not be investigated on these ones alone; he should also be investigated in areas that he’s been abusing his office. He’s been beating up workers both verbal and physical. Mr. Bami Mubash told Angel Fm in Kumasi, Tuesday on the station’s morning show hosted by Kwame Tanko in an interview.

Mr. Mubash further alleged that the Rector, Prof Emmanuel Owusu Marfo has no knowledge about the policy document of the institution. “He doesn’t look at them at all”

Prof Emmanuel Marfo Owusu has been accused by lecturers of the Polytechnic of breach of procurement laws in connection with his Mercedes Benz he purchased for himself at half a million Ghana Cedis

The lecturers have argued they do not understand how the vehicle would be bought at a cost of GH¢ 500,000 when the infrastructure of the school is in a sorry state.

While showing their displeasure, lecturers of the Wa Polytechnic chased out the Rector with sticks, stones amidst shouts of thief, thief and perused him out of campus in his controversial Mercedes Benz.

A three-member committee has been set up to investigate the allegations of the financial impropriety against Prof Emmanuel Marfo Owusu, the embattled Rector.

However, Prof Emmanuel Marfo Owusu has denied the allegations leveled against him saying, “I am a person who has been trained well and have not taken anyone’s money….. they (lecturers) are thinking that the car is very expensive”.
