In May 1972, a mock burial was held in Lagos, Nigeria for former President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

At the time of the event, Nkrumah body which was still being held by the Government of Guinea, was honoured with a symbolic burial in Lagos.

In the footage, a sizable crowd is seen following a group of men carrying the casket on a street procession amidst singing and chanting.

Nkrumah died in Romania on April 27. On April 30 his body was flown to Conakry, Guinea.

He mortal remains which was later brought to Ghana was initially kept at Nkroful, his hometown in the Western Region. It was subsequently relocated to Accra and kept at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum.

Kwame Nkrumah led Ghana to gain independence from the British in 1957.
