Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, NDC National Chairman says no decision could have been better than pulling out of the by-elections at Ayawaso West Wuogon due to riots that erupted at the La Bawaleshie polling station.

According to him the decision was not taken by him alone as some people think, but was arrived at a consultative emergency meeting held by some leading members of the party in the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary aspirant’s [Delali Kwasi Brempong] house on Thursday.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo in an interview with UTV’s Yaa Konamah said President Akufo-Addo and his party members should not think the NDC cannot also deploy strong vigilante groups as observed during the by-elections.

". . We are not cowards as the NPP claim, but providing decisive leadership roles according to the laws of our party to protect our own. Most people than we have here would have gotten themselves injured have we not pulled out," he lamented on UTV.

He also asked persons telling them to stop exaggerating on the matter to stop because they cannot continue an election seeing eight [8] of their people injured and being brutalized.

“We know some of our party members are not happy with the decision we took to pull out of the by-election, but some decisions need to be taken based on the information available to us,” he stressed.
