The Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak has described as an embarrassment to the military, a viral video in which one military officer is seen in uniform statementing his disagreement of plans to build a new chamber for Parliament of Ghana at the cost of $200 million dollars.
In the video recorded by the officer, he is heard appealing to President Akufo-Addo not to support such initiative especially at the time the nation needs more interventions to alleviate poverty among the masses.
But the action of the military officer whose name is not yet known but believed to be an officer stationed at Sunyani has incurred the wrath of the lawmaker describing his action as “unprofessional” and an embarrassment of the military.
The MP in a Facebook post has also stated the officer’s conduct “breached the Armed Forces Regulation Vol 1, Article 19, section 14 subsection 2 and article 19.36”
Ras Mubarak is of the view that “Before he [the military officer] heard a word about it, it was MPs who kicked against it first” and it was completely unprofessional for him [a uniform man] to join this campaign.
“The fact that we want the chamber dropped doesn’t mean we should promote indiscipline”, he emphasized.

What an embarrassment to the military. If this unprofessional officer cares to know, majority of MPs don’t support spending $200m on a luxury chamber when many of our people lack essential services. That however doesn’t give an officer in uniform the right to misconduct himself.
He has breached the Armed Forces Regulation Vol 1, Article 19, section 14 subsection 2 and article 19.36.
Before he heard a word about it, it were MPs who kicked against it first. The fact that we want the chamber dropped doesn’t mean we should promote indiscipline #DropThatChamber
