Former Ghana international Charles Akonnor has been backed to succeed as Black Stars coach by former Great Olympics head coach Price George Koffie.

According to local tactician, Akonnor is fit for the job and has urged him to stay focus and listen to suggestions from the coaching fraternity.

Akonnor was appointed early this year as a replacement for James Kwesi Appiah, who left following the expiration of his contract in December last year.

“I throw my support behind CK Akonnor to succeed at his new job. I can’t state categorically that he will but anything is possible under the sun depending on the seriousness attached towards it”, Prince Kofie told 442gh.com.

Since his appointment four months ago, Akonnor hasn't sat in the dugout for a match.

His first match was supposed to be last month in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan but the match was called off due to Coronavirus pandemic.
