The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to implement its plans of playing double-headers to improve spectating and commercial attractiveness of lower-division matches and colts games.

This is part of the programme that the Executive Council will discuss to implement at regional levels to help improve the patronage of matches at the grassroots level.

The regional FAs have been tasked by the GFA to identify the pitches to be used for such matches to ensure they are upgraded to meet the standard to host the matches.

Colts matches will be played from the U15 and U17 at the venues as games could be played from morning till evening. In venues where there are floodlights, matches could be played to midnight.

The plan will ensure that will several matches being played at the same venue on the same day, supporters from all the playing clubs will storm the venue to ensure massive attendances.

This will make it extremely attractive to television audiences as well as companies seeking to sponsors the game as the presence of crowds during matches will ensure traction for companies.

It will also give the public a clear demonstration of improvement in the attendance of matches to quell the notion that 'colts and other grassroots football is dead'.

A double-header is a sporting contest between two teams that involves two separate games being played, often on the same day.
