German-born Ghanaian forward Aaron Opoku played a crucial role in FC Kaiserslautern's 2-1 comeback win against SSV Ulm 1846 on Sunday, marking a successful start to the season for the Red Devils.

Despite missing two clear chances earlier in the game, Opoku remained determined. The match saw SSV Ulm 1846 take the lead in the 48th minute, putting FC Kaiserslautern under pressure. However, the Red Devils responded vigorously.

A turning point came when referee Robert Schröder initially awarded a free kick, which was upgraded to a penalty after a video assistant review showed Ulm captain Johannes Reichert fouling an FCK striker just inside the box.

Aaron Opoku, undeterred by his earlier misses, made a decisive impact. New signing Jannik Mause shielded the ball in the opponent's penalty area, allowing Opoku to run through and score into an empty net.

"Thank God I was rewarded with another chance," Opoku said, expressing relief and satisfaction. "I should have taken the first two chances, but I'm glad I made the most of this one."

This victory marks FC Kaiserslautern's second opening win in their third year in the second division since promotion.
