Dimitri de Condé, the Head of Football at KRC Genk, has lavished praise on Ghanaian teenage sensation Christopher Bonsu Baah, describing the 18-year-old as a "special" talent with qualities similar to former Genk star, Leon Bailey.

De Condé's glowing endorsement suggests that Genk views Bonsu Baah as a long-term investment destined for success.

Genk secured Bonsu Baah's services from Norwegian club Sarpsborg 08 in a €5.2 million deal last season, warding off interest from English Premier League clubs Everton and Brighton.

The Ghanaian prodigy has quickly justified the faith placed in him by Genk, a club with a proven track record of nurturing and developing young talent.

"The boy has something special, which prompted us to go a little further for him than we normally would," said de Condé in an interview, emphasizing Genk's respect for the highly-rated Ghanaian winger.

"It is a great achievement that we have secured him, given that the competition for such players has become enormous in Europe," he added, acknowledging the intense competition for top young talents across the continent.

Bonsu Baah, who represented Ghana at the U-20 World Cup in 2023, has been tipped for a bright future in the sport, with his explosive pace, dribbling skills, and goal-scoring ability drawing comparisons to Jamaican international Leon Bailey, who excelled at Genk before making a high-profile transfer to Aston Villa in 2022.
