The government says it is considering proposals by the Ghana Football Association and the Ghana Golf Association on the possibility of easing the restriction on the sectors.
This was made known by the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah during the Ministry’s semi-weekly briefings on the coronavirus pandemic.
Oppong Nkrumah expressed appreciation to the federations for the cooperation and said the government will in the coming days engage them.
He, however, cautioned that the engagement is no indication of the acceptance of the proposals or granting of exemptions to the federations.
“The sports community in particular football and golf have also submitted proposals on potential easing approach which could still protect the population”.
“The government is grateful to all these groups and the others who will be engaged in the coming days for their cooperation so far. But note, the fact that you are being engaged does not mean the proposal coming from you has been accepted or the restrictions have been amended or lifted currently. The restrictions remain in full force and offenders will be arrested and prosecuted”, he warned.
