Leicester City striker Jordan Ayew has acknowledged that his outstanding goal against Tranmere in the English Football League Cup was special.

The Ghanaian, on his full debut, gave the Foxes the lead with a belting strike from outside the box in the 4-0 win at the King Power Stadium on August 27, 2024.

Speaking to the club's media, he admitted that his goal was exceptional but was delighted that the team went on to win the game.

He said the win serves as a boost for them ahead of their crucial fixture against Aston Villa.

"It is very important for us. The team did well. We won and scored goals, and it's good for our confidence and for Saturday because Saturday is a big game for us," he said.

"It was a special one, but thank God it went in. The most important thing is that the team qualified for the next round, and hopefully, we can get a run," he added.

Aside from scoring, Ayew set up Wilfred Ndidi for the third goal before coming off in the 77th minute.

The game was Jordan Ayew's second appearance for Leicester City after completing an 8 million pound move to the club this summer.
