The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on Thursday, announced a 4-member committee that will run Ghana football from now to not later than March 31 2019.

The members of the Normalisation Committee who start their duties with immediate effect are businessman Dr Kofi Amoah (Chairman), former Airtel Ghana CEO, Lucy Quist, Lawyer Dua Adonten (Former Kotoko Board member) and Naa Odofoley Nortey (a Board member of the Attorney General's Department - Legal Aid Scheme).

Speaking at a press briefing held at the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association, head of governance at FIFA, Luca Nicola explained that members of the committee will be subjected to eligibility test to be conducted by her outfit’s Review Committee and will not be allowed to stand for any position in the GFA elections scheduled for next year.

Majority of the journalists who spoke to GhanaWeb expressed satisfaction with the names put out by FIFA albeit disappointment with the absence of club administrators and retired footballers on the committee. Others also believe that it will be premature to pass judgement on a committee that is yet to begin its work, they thus called for time and patience for the committee

Veteran journalist Ekow Asmah was however unhappy with the exclusion of individuals from the Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG) and the Ghana League Clubs Associations (GHALCA) from the committee.

“I’m disappointed that there will not be any rep from the PFAG who take care of the interest of the active players. I’m also disappointed that there was no rep from GHALCA. The clubs and footballers have been exploited for far too long so if we are gonna change something it should be represented in the composition of this committee and its woefully missing, he said.

The duties of the Normalization Committee which according to FIFA will not exceed March, 31, 2019 include;

Running the GFA’s daily affairs and co-operate with the task force once it has been set up by Fifa, Caf and the Government of Ghana.

Reviewing the GFA Statuses to ensure compliance with the requirements of FIFA and CAF particularly article 15 of the FIFA Statutes;

Organizing and conducting the elections of the GFA Executive Committee on the basis of the revised GFA Statutes once the GFA Statutes meets the requirements of FIFA and CAF this Normalization Committee.
