Veteran football administrator, Kofi Manu has insisted that Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold should represent Ghana in Africa in the event that the GFA cancels the current league campaign.
According to the former Aduana Stars General Manager, the fact that the Normalization Competition was a credible competition to warrant clubs going to Africa, it wouldn’t be far from right if its winners are giving the opportunity by merit to represent the country in the 2020/2021 Africa Club Competitions.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the past three days has been engaging clubs over the suspension of the 2019/20 football season due to the pandemic and must also report to CAF on the future of the league by May 5, 2020.
Speaking to Oyerepa FM on Ghana representative at the Africa club competition should the GFA decide to cancel the league, Kofi Manu stated.
“Covid-19 is a natural disaster and for that matter a force majeure which you can’t blame Ghana if our league season is discontinued and if that happens Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold are the rightful clubs to claim the spot of Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively,”
“These two clubs should be representing Ghana unless they want an unnecessary fight,” he continued.
“The Player and Coaches Status Committee of the GFA in the ruling of the case between CK Akonnor and Asante Kotoko stated categorically and in their decision that has become a law that the NC tier 1 competition is equivalent to the national league, once the GFA has made it a law, we can’t do otherwise,” he dug more.
“It has being established that the NC Tier 1 is as good as the national league and the CAF Club Competitions regulations stipulates clearly they are the only two who can represent Ghana,” he ended.
