Osaka, Japan -- Ghana 'has' zero medals entering Sunday's final day at the 11th IAAF World Championships of Athletics. This is one silver medal less than in Helsinki two years ago.
However, it seems the whole country is not paying attention, as most Ghanaians are fixated on the performance of the U-17 national football team, the starlets.
On Saturday's penultimate day of action the women's sprint relay team was run out in the heats, finishing in 6th place in the second heat of the day with a season best of 43.76secs.
No Ghanaian athlete made it to the medals zone of the six events that they participated in.
"Ghana team's poor showing can be blamed on lack of govement support. If we get us much support as our footballers get, we would have got a couple of medals" said a disappointed athlete.
With one day left in the competition, the United States leads the medals table, with 22 medals including 11 golds. Russia is second with 13 medals total, including four gold. Kenya is third with 10 medals including three golds.
