AUSTIN, Texas - Missouri senior, Fiona Asigbee, won the heptathlon with 5,583 points on Sunday at the Big 12 Conference track and field championships. She led through six of the seven events and then fought off a late charge from Nebraska's Ashley Selig, who finished with 5,549.
Asigbee, a pre-med student from Ghana, also qualified for today's final in the 100-meter hurdles.
After six men's events, Missouri leads the team competition with 51 points, followed by Texas A&M (38) and Kansas State (30). Kansas is in seventh with 13 points.
The women's team race is led by Nebraska with 75, Missouri (48), Kansas State (34), Texas A&M (29) and Kansas (211/2).
Texas and Nebraska led the men's qualifiers for Monday's finals with 12 and 11, respectively. Kansas had three, and Missouri and K-State each qualified one. Texas led the women's qualifiers with 25 advancing.
