Participants of the 2019 Kwahu Easter Mountain Marathon (KEMM), will be provided with free accommodation in Kwahu, a day before the event.
This is to ease the burden of athletes, traveling from other parts of the country to Kwahu, to compete in the event.
According to Medivent Consult, the organisers of the event, the decision to provide free accommodation for athletes coming for the competition, is to ensure that, athletes do not travel on event day to Kwahu, since that could delay their arrival, as well as the start of the competition.
A statement signed by Mr. Edward Boahen, Project Coordinator of Medivent Consult, said the initiative is also to increase the number of participants for this year’s event, as traveling on the day of event was a major hurdle last year.
It said, athletes would also have the opportunity to interact with each other before event and would serve as a way of using sports to build friendship.
The 42.195 Kilometer race would commence at Nkawkaw, through Obomeng, Mpraeso, Beepong, back to Mpraeso, Nkwatia, Abetifi and Abene, which is the finish point.
So far, close to 600 athletes have registered for the competition.
The participants included major and well known long distance runners like Ishmael Arthur (2018 Winner of Millennium Marathon) Akuka Williams, Prosper Awuah, together with ten Kenyans.
The KEMM project is being sponsored by GOIL, StarTimes, Mobisoko, Bel Beverages and Asempa FM
