William Amponsah, winner of the 2019 Kwahu Easter Mountain Marathon (KEMM), has said, the marathon is unique and offers long distance runners, a good test in their career.
The 42.195 Km race, held last Saturday, saw various athletes compete for honours, as Amponsah clocked an impressive 2:29:16, to win a cash prize of Ghc 3,000, a decoder and a satellite dish from StarTimes, smart phone from Mibisoko among others from sponsors of the event.
In an interview with the GNA Sports after the race, Amponsah said, he was elated with the victory, but was also impressed with the endurance of climbing the mountain in a competitive mood.
''I thank God for giving me the strength to be able to conquer the mountain challenge and grateful to the organizers for such an event.
''The nature of marathon challenges athletes to give out their best and you can compete in any marathon around the world, if you are able to complete in the Kwahu Marathon,'' he stated.
Amponsah, who is expected to compete in an international marathon later in the year, has envisaged a good outing and would kick start preparations soon, as he set sight on making Ghana proud.
The marathon was organised by Medivents Consult in collaboration with the Kwahu Traditional Council and sponsored by Goil, StarTimes, Bel Beverages, Mobisoko and Asempa FM.
