Records fall at K'DUA Schools Sports Competition

Koforidua, March 15, GNA - Two new records were set and one equalled at the end of the 19th Annual Zones of Second Cycle Schools Athletics Competition at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
In the Boys Division, Edmund Boateng of New Juaben Secondary Commercial School(NJUASCO) leaped 6.56 metres to set a new record in the long jump event. The old record of 6.27 was set by Edmund Ameyo of Pope john Secondary School(POJOSS) in 2003.
Dominic Abavor also of Njuasco also threw 6.56 metres in shot putt to beat the old record of 6.27 metres, which stood in the name of Richard Peasah of Koforidua Technical Institute set in 2002.
In the Girls Division, Fatima Kumasa of NJUASCO finished the 100 metres race with a time of 13.28 seconds to equal the old record set by Theresa Koomson of Ghana Secondary School, (GHANASS) in 2002. POJOSS won the Boys Division with 126 points followed by NJUASCO at the second position with 118 points with Koforidua Secondary Technical School (SECTEC) coming third with 115 points.
In the Girls Division, NJUASCO placed first with 112 and half points with SECTEC coming second with 89 points and Pentecost Secondary School placing third with 74 points.
