Velocity to host 3rd road race

The third edition of the Open Road Cycling Race has been scheduled for Sunday, June 19 at Adenta in Accra with top cyclists in the country expected to participate.

The Velocity Cycling Club organised event would be an individual or team race to cover a total distance of 103km with a hectic route starting from Adenta to Dodowa.

It will also move to Ayikumah, climb the Larteh Mountains and head towards Mamfe to Adawso.

The caravan will turn back at Adawso roundabout to Mamfe, Aburi, Kitasi and end at the starting point, Adenta.

According to Club Administrator at Velo, Kwabena Larbi, security of cyclists and patrons would be paramount as the race would be supported with Police Escort, ambulance and support vehicles.

He added that there would be cash prizes for the first 10 cyclists with the exact amount to be announced a week to the event.

”Registration will open from June 5 and close 24 hours prior to the race. There will be a race entry fee of GH¢20 per rider payable either on the day or via MTN Mobile Money in advance,” he explained.

Departure for the race, he said, would be at 8am at the Adenta Police Station but all riders are urged to converge at the Legon Botanical Garden from 6.30am to complete registration formalities.
