Vida Anim confirms All Africa Games participation

Sprint queen Vida Anim is fired up and ready to run for Ghana at September’s All Africa Games in Mozambique, she has confirmed to All Sports. Anim is currently training fervently ahead of competing in the IAAF meets starting within two months with her focus on next year’s outdoor world championships in Istanbul, Turkey.

But before then, she has pledged to make a reunion with the national side and compete for the country in Africa’s biggest sporting event. Anim had previously been at loggerheads with the nation’s athletics chiefs over their maladministration and other inconsistencies including in-fighting at the Ghana Athletics Federation.

She consequently was among a host of top athletes who boycotted last year’s Commonwealth Games. But she assures she will never turn her back on Ghana. “I still run for Ghana, yeah I stopped for a while to help put things in order but now everything is okay and yes I will run at the African games. I’m back and let’s see what God have for me this year,” she told All Sports.

She has also called on Ghanaian athletics fans to support the sport to rekindle its glorious days. “The fans should pray for me to get more power to train and I know God will answer us at the right time, and I love them all,” she said.
