Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasized that maximizing the benefits of the fourth industrial revolution is now more crucial than ever for the nation.

The government's investments in the digital landscape have prepared Ghana to fully leverage the ongoing fourth industrial revolution to achieve exceptional excellence.

Speaking to an audience at the Ho Technical University during his "Youth Connect" program in the Volta Region, Dr. Bawumia expressed that Ghana's progressing digital landscape should spur national advancement towards competitive industrialization.

He highlighted the extensive investments in digital infrastructure, which should serve as the foundation for the launch of Ghana's industrialization.

"I considered the direction of the fourth industrial revolution and its digital world. Ghana and Africa missed the first three industrial revolutions, and we cannot afford to miss the fourth," he stated.

"We must be prepared, and I believe that we can excel in the fourth industrial revolution, perhaps even more so than many advanced countries. It is indeed possible."

Dr. Bawumia mentioned that digital IDs are essential for any digital society; hence, the government has invested significantly in the successful rollout of the Ghana Card, with nearly 20 million of the approximately 30 million population now securely included in a consolidated national database.

He also noted the completion of mobile money interoperability, granting the nation 100% access to financial inclusion. With a top-tier digital address system in place, Ghana is well-positioned for industrialization in the modern era.

The Vice President announced that the government would soon introduce an individual credit scoring system, facilitated by the digital investments made thus far.

"In the near future, I will launch an individual credit scoring system, which will provide access to a wide range of commodities," he declared.

The government has established ghana.GOV, a unified digital access platform for various payment and transactional services within the public sector, which, according to the Vice President, contains over 1,500 non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Dr. Bawumia also praised the nationwide drone service for medical deliveries, which, combined with the networking of hospitals across the country, has revolutionized health delivery.

He asserted that the current digital landscape has significantly advanced the fight against corruption, saving the nation hundreds of millions through the elimination of ghost names on government payrolls.

Dr. Bawumia took the opportunity to share his vision with the youth as the NPP's flagbearer, stating that under his leadership, the government would digitally transform agriculture on a commercial scale, heavily invest in solar power, and reform Ghana's tax system.
