The founder of the All People’s Congress Party, Dr Hassan Ayariga, who also doubles as the presidential candidate of the party, has said that if given the nod to govern the country in the 2024 elections, the minimum salary every Ghanaian will earn is GH¢5,000.
He made this utterance during his manifesto launch on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the auditorium of the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) in Accra.
Addressing the audience, he said his government will administer a bi-weekly salary system, where employees will be paid every two weeks instead of monthly.
Additionally, he stated that he would increase the minimum wage from the current GH¢18 to between GH¢150 and GH¢300.
Dr Ayariga accused the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, of stealing his policy, which is the 24-hour economy.
He claimed that he birthed the policy, not the NDC, and added that if he becomes the president of Ghana, the 24-hour economy policy will be cancelled.
“The 24 Hour Economy was introduced by Hassan Ayariga in 2016 and 2024. It is not for the NDC. It is a stolen manifesto policy by the NDC,” he said.
Dr Hassan Ayariga's manifesto launch was under the theme “Transforming Ghana and Restoring Hope.”
He is one of the politicians who have decided not to throw in the towel, although his several attempts to rule the country have proven futile.
He has been approved by the Electoral Commission of Ghana to contest the 2024 elections and would be battling with the NPP's flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, John Dramani Mahama of the NDC, Alan Kyerematen of the Movement for Change, and other politicians.
