The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) UK chapter, Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, popularly known as Wofa K, has claimed that the Akufo-Addo-led administration is leaving behind a strong economy.

He argued that the incoming Mahama-led administration would have no excuse for returning the country to the challenges of the past.

"If Mahama fails to build on the growth we have achieved, the growth rate will drop, and the country will head back to the challenges and difficulties we complained about," he said.

He criticised Mahama's track record, citing what he described as economic mismanagement during his tenure.

Wofa K recalled that under President Atta Mills, Ghana’s GDP grew from 8% under the Kufuor administration to 14%, but this figure dropped to 3.5% during Mahama’s presidency.

"Mahama destroyed all the gains made and plunged us into five years of 'dumsor,' which led to the collapse of industries and cost the country an annual figure of GH¢10.88 billion. That was the state of the country," he alleged.

He highlighted the achievements of the NPP government, stating that Ghana was the fastest-growing economy in the world in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

According to him, this progress would have continued if not for the outbreak of COVID-19.

Wofa K stressed the importance of the incoming administration fulfilling its promises and improving the living conditions of Ghanaians, ensuring no excuses for under-performance compared to the gains made by the NPP.
