Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has dismissed widespread claims that John Mahama has begun appointing family members into his administration, which is yet to be sworn in.

Critics have expressed concerns over the appointment of Dr. Callistus Mahama as Secretary to the Transition Team, alleging that he has familial ties to John Dramani Mahama.

Other reports have also suggested that Dr. Callistus Mahama’s appointment was driven by family connections, reinforcing claims of a potential family and friends’ government.

In response to these allegations in a Facebook post on Thursday, December 12, 2024, Bawah Mogtari clarified that the two individuals have no family connections and urged Ghanaians to disregard the claims.

“Dr Callistus Abukari Mahama has no familial relations with the President-elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama! Kindly take note,” she posted.

Background

President-Elect John Dramani Mahama in accordance with the provisions of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (ACT 845), appointed the following personalities as members of the 2024 Transition Team.

The team will collaborate closely with representatives of the outgoing government to ensure a seamless transfer of political power to the incoming administration.

9. Hon. Goosie Tanoh - Member
10. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah – Member

Additionally, the President-Elect has nominated Edward Doe Adjaho as a member of the transitional Advisory Council.
