President of the Creative Arts Council, Mark Okraku Mantey recently in an interview slammed Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Edem, etc. for not visiting the Creative Arts Office before, yet always sit on social media to complain about authorities and government not doing enough to better the lives of musicians in Ghana.

Reacting to this allegation in an interview with Kweku Bee Abrante and Feeling Daddy on Showbiz Today on EIB’s Empire FM 102.7 and Radio 360 in Takoradi, the SM boss, Shatta Wale rubbished the claims saying there are systems that don’t need you to come to them before they work.

According to him, why will GHAMRO, Creative Arts Office, MUSIGA, etc. want musicians to visit them before they do what they are mandated to do? That is just like the Roads and Highway Ministry waiting for Ghanaians to go to them before they build roads for Ghanaians, but they are mandated to collect royalties on behalf of musicians.

“Do we visit GHAMRO to tell them to go and collect royalties on behalf of musicians?? No, yet they go to Radio Stations, Spinners, Spots, etc. to collect royalties. So, why then do they want us to visit them before they pay us royalties or do what they are mandated to? They should do the right thing,” he stated.

He continued that, GHAMRO and the various institutions have never done anything for artistes who visited their offices. So, why will he visit the office? What will be his motivation to visit their offices? He advised them to keep quiet and do what they are mandated to do.
