The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has urged Civil Society Organisations, associations, public institutions, private sector institutions, and the general public to submit questions to its committee ahead of the presidential and vice presidential debates.

A statement released by the IEA on September 5, 2024, said the debate would provide a platform for all candidates to answer questions on the nation's development sector.

"The IEA 2024 Presidential and Vice-Presidential Debates will provide a common platform for the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates to answer questions on various aspects of the nation’s development process.

"The debates will take the form of a policy dialogue engagement at which the presidential and vice presidential candidates will present their viewpoints, plans, and programmes, and also point out weaknesses in the policies of co-contestants and present alternatives to those policies and programmes," it stated.

It called on all stakeholders to send in their questions before September 14, 2024.

"To broaden the level of participation in these debates, the IEA is requesting civil society organizations, associations, public institutions, private sector institutions, and the general public to submit questions to the IEA Presidential Debates Committee on the thematic areas outlined below by email to iea@ieagh.org or by hand delivery to No. 28 Independence Avenue, Ridge," it stated.

The first presidential debate is scheduled for October 22, 2024, in Accra, while the second debate will take place on November 19, 2024, in Kumasi. The vice-presidential debate is set for November 5, 2024, in Accra.
