Dr. Alhaji Muhammad Bawah Barimah, a Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejura Sekyedumase, has declared emphatically that Electoral Commissioner Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa will announce former President John Dramani Mahama as the President following the December 7 presidential election, regardless of any circumstances.
He maintains that despite potential manipulations, the former president will be elected and sworn in on January 7, 2025.
The MP also referred to President Akufo-Addo's remarks about handing over to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on January 7, 2025, emphasizing that the authority does not lie with the current president, who will have no choice but to transfer power to Mahama in 2025.
"I am telling President Akufo-Addo that he will be smiling while handing over to John Dramani Mahama. He will do so promptly. Mahama defeated him in 2012, and President Kufuor peacefully handed over to the late Atta Mills. In 2012, the EC declared Mahama as president," he stated.
Addressing the EC boss, he said, "Whether Jean Mensa likes it or not, she will declare John Dramani Mahama as the elected president. The elections will be conducted at all polling stations; the votes will be counted and collated, and Mahama will win."
The MP appealed to constituents and Ghanaians at large to engage in the registration of new voters and all other preparatory activities for the upcoming elections.
He also implored Ghanaians to place their trust in the leadership of Mahama, his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and the NDC for competent governance.
"I urge Ghanaians to believe in former President John Dramani Mahama, his running mate, our political candidates, and the NDC. We are confident about winning the general elections.
"We will safeguard our votes and guarantee that John Mahama is proclaimed the victor. We are determined to triumph in the 2024 general elections," he added.
