The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Asiedu Nketiah, has called on voters to accept cash from politicians who engage in vote-buying, describing it as "their own stolen money being returned."

Speaking during a campaign tour in Asesewa in the Eastern Region, Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito, argued that politicians resort to vote-buying when they have nothing else to show for their time in office.

"The thieves are coming around to give you back your own money. If someone has stolen your goat and comes to your house in the night to bring you some soup and stew, why wouldn’t you eat it? It is your own goat that they stole," he stated.

He encouraged voters to use their thumbs to punish politicians at the polls if they have failed to deliver on their promises.

He also assured voters that the promises made by the NDC's flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, will be fulfilled if he is elected.

"When Mahama was President, he did not take money from anywhere to give to people. When he was President, was there anything like vote-buying? You must realize that he is someone with a clean heart who does not need to buy your votes to come back to power," Asiedu Nketiah said.

He further called on political parties and leaders to focus on delivering on their promises rather than using dubious means to secure votes.
