Ghanaian actor and aspiring Member of Parliament, John Dumelo has expressed confidence in his ability to secure the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Speaking in an interview with TV3 at the official launch of National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign on July 27, 2024, Dumelo criticised the current MP for the area who doubles as Minister for Sanitation, Lydia Alhassan for failing to address the cleanliness issues in Accra and the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

"Most of the people are tired of the current MP, and she knows it. She's the minister of sanitation but Accra is still dirty. Ghana is still dirty, and Ayawaso West is really dirty. I don't know what she's doing there," Dumelo stated.

John Dumelo further highlighted the importance of parliamentary victories as a stepping stone to broader success and said that the party will take a smarter approach to politics.

"Victory starts on the parliamentary level. This time around, we are not working hard; we are working smarter. We are doing things differently from what we did in 2020. Victory is assured for us in 2024," he declared.

Thousands of Ghanaians from all over the country gathered at the Jubilee Park in Tamale in the Northern Region on Saturday for the NDC’s 2024 election campaign launch.

The party's flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, and his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang took centre stage at the event.

Other top officials also addressed the gathering including National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and some other leading members of the party.

Various NDC Members of Parliament and parliamentary candidates were also in attendance.
