Founder and Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana, Kofi Akpaloo has debunked claims that he was awarded a 2 million dollar contract by the ruling New Patriotic Party.

Two years ago, it emerged that Mr. Kofi Akpaloo and his wife were awarded the contract of supplying electrical products to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) by the Government of Ghana.

Mr. Akpaloo in an interview with Kwame Afrifa Mensah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, denied the claims by stating that he was awarded the contract by the Electricity Company of Ghana and not the Government of Ghana.

“ECG is a company and not the Government. So if this company has requested for suppliers and I happen to be one of the persons who won a contract, what is wrong with that?”, he queried.

According to him, the contracts he has won over the years was as a result of the efforts he put in securing such contracts. He further expressed his disappointment in people who criticized him for the ECG contract. “I have been to a lot of places where I have been denied contracts but no one talked about that. When I received a contract from ECG everyone is talking about it”.

Mr. Kofi Akpaloo was disqualified in the 2012 and 2016 elections due to some anomalies in the filing of nomination forms. He is, however, confident that his party will have a massive victory in the 2020 general elections.
