Opposition NDC Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Nii Lante Vanderpuye has claimed the man who slapped Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George during last Thursday’s by-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon is a known armed robber.

Sam George who was a polling station agent during the by-election was assaulted by one of the security operatives deployed by the Minister of State-in-charge of National Security, Bryan Acheampong to storm the La-Bawaleshie residence of the NDC candidate to deal with some ”undesirable circumstances”.

According to Nii Lante Vanderpuye who was the Director of Operations at the Presidency during the erstwhile Mills Administration, the man who attacked Sam George is currently being wanted by the Police in connection to an armed robbery incident in Odododiodoo.

“The guy who slapped Sam George we’ve known him to be an armed robber who has domiciled in my constituency at Old Fadama for sometime. He was being pursued and he run to the North and hid himself. He came down when there was a change of government, he supported the people to harrass, beat up and kill some NDC members at old Fadama. We’ve always known him, he’s the son of the Chief of Nanton.”

He added: “Just yesterday we heard that he’s been involved in an assault and death of a young man at Sowutuom and the Police are being given the pressure to release him and not to prosecute him. But we’ll follow that case and we’ll pursue it. We are following keenly from the Sowutuom Police station and we’ll make Ghanaians know what is happening. Because this boy cannot be walking free on the streets of Accra in the name of being a member of so-called Invisible Forces.”
