The party has chosen Saturday, November 3, 2018 for its National Congress to elect new executives to steer affairs of the party for the next four years and the party has picked Trade Fair in Accra as the venue.
According to the delegates, the candidate, has carved a niche in the party and requires no introduction to emerge victorious in the upcoming national congress.
The delegates who endorsed the nomination forms of the tough talking politician, claimed they have settled on the 'humble lion'.
This endorsement, they explained was to demonstrate how they were yearning for victory in 2020 general elections.
Pouring out an overwhelming endorsement, the delegates representing various constituencies nationwide, said the Commando would lead NDC into the Zongo communities to begin an exercise of consolidating electoral gains made in the last elections and generally garner fresh electoral fortunes in terms of votes for the party.
They want an astronomical increase in votes to further brighten chances of NDC in securing landslide victory in 2020.
"We have settled on Abdul Aziz Mohammed as the next Zongo Caucus Coordinator due to his strength nationwide. He is well connected, advanced in galvanizing the energies of our youth, and remains the most popular candidate. In fact he is winning hands down", they said.
Reacting to these massive approval rating, the Professional Accountant turned politician said he was elated when his attention was drawn by his campaign team to the news that he had the backing of delegates of the party.
"I don't want to get swollen headed because of the endorsement, but I am humbled by the confidence reposed in me. I know when I emerge victorious, I will be counting on all of them to rally behind the new National Executive to work", he said.
He, explained that the endorsement received further suggests that his campaign strategy adopted by his team had reached the nook and cranny of the country and appeared convincing to delegates of the party.
"Our trajectory message has been anchored on three pillars. Form, Reform and Transform. This means, we would 'Form' new grassroot structures, 'Reform' existing structures and ultimately 'Transform' NDC in all Zongo communities"
This simple but workable formula, he noted would be applied strategically as the NDC approaches the next general elections.
"NDC has attracted new followers since 2016, how to sustain their interest in the party and maintain our core support base would all depend on the next crop of leaders the party would select. I am determined to be part of the new team that would be tasked with the responsibility to deliver victory", he added.
