The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Trobu Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Maame Efua Sekyi-Aidoo, has raised concerns over the defacing of her campaign posters and banners in the constituency.

According to her, posters of the New Patriotic Party candidate in the constituency, Moses Anim, are being pasted on her posters while others are being defaced and torn by some unknown people; something she said is creating tension in the area.

“They are pasting their posters and banners on my posters and I can show you some of them,” Ms Sekyi-Addo said on Onua FM’s Kokromoti on Monday, and appealed to Mr Anim to ask his agents to desist from such practice.“Politics is not fighting so I am appealing to them not to do that.

They should desist from that because what we need is development in the area and not destruction and defacing of posters and banners,” she pleaded.

Basic education important Meanwhile, Ms Sekyi-Addo has urged children of school going age, especially the females, to take their education serious, indicating that “if you lose basic education, you lose everything in life”.

She observed that although tuition is free for basic education, some parents in her constituency are unable to afford other service charges which has made it difficult for them to take their children to school.

Ms Sekyi-Addo said it is against this background that she is paying the school fees of over 50 pupils in the basic schools in the constituency, saying “I pay fees of 50 pupils of GHc400.00 per pupil.

“I don’t get government fund. I don’t get common fund but I have done a lot for the constituency”, she told the host of Kokromoti , Bright Asempa.
