The Member of Parliament for the Bongo constituency, Edward Bawa, has called for extra vigilance among members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the general elections on December 7.
Addressing a crowd of party members and supporters at a campaign rally on Monday, October 28, 2024, Edward Bawa stated that the NDC can only claim victory if the party members stand firm and protect their votes and ballot boxes.
According to Bawa, members should not be complacent or too relaxed just because people are predicting the elections in their favor, as this could cost the party.
“Everywhere you go, they tell you the NDC will win, but let me tell you, if we don’t fight to protect the ballot boxes, that victory will not materialize,” he said.
Edward Bawa cautioned the Jean Mensa-led Electoral Commission to tread cautiously in ensuring peaceful free and fair elections.
He added that the events that occurred during the 2020 elections will not repeat themselves, as the party will guard their votes jealously.
“The Electoral Commission should be very careful and must count every ballot that is cast. They should not count votes that are not valid. I am telling you that the NDC have the men. We recently showed them what we are capable of in Parliament.
“We will work with Jean Mensa and her people legally but if they do not tread cautiously and try to cheat you, we will face them because what happened in 2020 will not repeat itself. We are very serious this time and so on December 7, nobody should play when they start counting the ballots,” he warned.
