The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has once again put smiles on the faces of his friends at the Weija Leprosarium with a New Year day lunch.
Bawumia is noted for supporting the cured lepers, and he often shares festive occasions with them.
On New Year's day today, Dr. Bawumia invited the cured lepers into his home, to spend the day with his family, staff and friends.
Led by the resident director of the Weija Leprosarium, Father Andrew Campbell, the cured lepers had smiles on their faces, as they were made to feel at home, at the residence of the Vice President, which is so familiar to them.
When Dr. Bawumia was moving into the official residence as Vice President in 2017, he held a house-warming party with the cured lepers.
At today's New Year's day launch, Dr. Bawumia said having hosted his friends to move into the house, he deemed it necessary to invite them over again, as he prepares to leave the house.
On behalf of the Leprosy Aid Committee, Father Campbell presented a citation of appreciation to Dr. Bawumia for his immense support to the Committee and lepers across the country.
Dr. Bawumia, who is also a patron of Ghana Lepers Aid, expressed appreciation to the Committee for the honour, and assured them that he will continue to be a patron and extend support to them.
