Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress, has stated that the next NDC government will teach the youth how to engage in illegal mining activities, popularly known as galamsey, without polluting water bodies in the country.

Speaking during a recent campaign in Amenfi Central in the Western North Region, Prof Opoku-Agyemang accused the current government of failing to provide jobs for the youth.

She emphasised the need for sustainable mining practices, adding that where galamsey is practised without polluting water bodies is where the NDC plans to step in to train the youth to help conserve the environment.

"We know the youth needs jobs badly, that is why the NDC wants to bring the 24-hour economy. The proposed policy will introduce 3 shifts for one job. Galamsey activities are rife in Amenfi, the Akufo-Addo led government has collapsed all jobs in the countrty and they are not creating new jobs. The NDC government will teach you how to do galamsey without polluting our river bodies,” she noted.
