President John Mahama was not snubbed by the people of Chereponi in the Northern Region during his campaign tour of that part of the country as claimed on social media, District Chief Executive of the area, Hajia Meri Nakomi has denied.
Hajia Nakomi told Class News’ regional correspondent Mohammed Abdul Dahim that Mr. Mahama was rather met by a big crowd upon arrival.
“…It’s a big lie. He [President Mahama] had a very rousing welcome. The chiefs welcomed him to their palace then we came to the town which was full, even when the plane landed. The whole community was full, so, don’t let them tell you lies,” she stated.
According to her, the chiefs declared their support for Mr Mahama and appealed to him to construct a school for the community. “His [chief of Chereponi] concern was a community school and then the road and the president responded that the road has been awarded to contractors.”
Mr. Mahama brought his campaign tour of the Northern Region to an end on Thursday August 25. He made headlines while touring that part of the country when he labeled his main contender, Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP as an intolerant and divisive person with dictatorial tendencies.
