Amponsah, Mato Lead Rankings

......Heading into US Junior College National Championships in New York

An unprecedented 8 Ghanaian athletes are set to feature in the US Junior Colleges National Athletics Championships in New York this weekend (March 7-8) after meeting qualification standards in their respective events. They are Janet Amponsah (60m, 200m), Lydia Mato (Mile, 3000m), Agnes Abu (800m), Daniel Gyasi (400m, 4X400m), Samson Laari (800m), Mary Quayson (60m, Triple Jump), Elizabeth Dadzie (Pentathlon, Triple Jump) and Adelaide Nkrumah (400m, 4X400m).

Of the eight athletes, Janet Amponsah, former Kumasi Girls student, and Lydia Mato, former Kumasi High student, lead national rankings in the 200m and mile (1600m) respectively. Elizabeth Dadzie, former T.I Ahmadiya student, is ranked in the top 5 in three different events; pentathlon, triple jump and long jump.

This is an important milestone in the development of the eight athletes who arrived at their respective schools barley 7 weeks ago with no experience competing indoor.
