Nadia Buari wants her privacy
Submitted on 2009-11-19 04:49:13

Ghana Screen goddess, Nadia Buari, has expressed a deep worry about how sections of the local media have been ‘mishandling’ issues concerning her private life.

Speaking n an exclusive interview with News-One last Sunday after the paper tracked her to her new shooting location at Akosombo in the Eastern Region, Nadia said the media has become one of the major challenges in her chosen career aside time constrains and other difficulties every actor faces.

She said the media has been invading her privacy to an extent that “Every now and then people are assuming things about me and publishing it.” According to Nadia, even though her fans want to know what is going on in her life, the media must be cautious and respect her privacy, saying she considers matters concerning her relationship private.

“I feel that part of me is very personal, very private so it should stay that way. What I am bringing to the public is the movies. It is what I am doing, my career is my job. That is what we should be talking about. I don’t like to talk about my private life and so I don’t want my private life out there,” she cautioned.

The actress is also saddened by comments that she is snobbish. She said she is an introvert, as such, she always likes keeping to herself. But most people including some of her colleagues in the movie industry misconstrue that to mean arrogance and being snobbish. “I am extremely quite because I am very shy person. You will never know until you get close to me and you will know the kind of person I am.”

She would, however, not talk about her alleged collapsed relationship with Michael Essien and other allegations that she had a child with a Holland-based Ghanaian. But she refuted rumours that amorously linked her to Van Vicker, saying it was because of the good chemistry that always existed between her and Van in their movies that made people think they were having a secret affairs.

Nadia also reacted to News One’s earlier reports that she had not been attending her own movie premiers. “Why wouldn’t I come to the premiere of my own movies and meet my fans and sign autographs and take pictures with them? Every time my movies are premiered, I don’t know when they are going to premiere, they never discuss it with us to find out if our schedule is right and you know I am always out of the country.”

On her marriage plans she said: “I want to establish myself well before I get married. Before you become somebody’s wife, you must have your own life. I have to work so hard to get to this point of my life and I am going to continue because I don’t think I have achieved enough or what I want to achieve. Marriage kind of pulls you down. It demands a lot and I am not willing to relax, I want to work harder and get somewhere.

I will get married but not anytime soon. Probably a couple of years, I am not sure. But anyway, hey! You never know. I may say this now but tomorrow may come with something different.”

Last week, the actress showed her humanitarian side at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, when she doled out one thousand dollars as her contribution to save the life of a young girl suffering from brain tumor.

Nadia said she is about to launch her Buari Foundation very soon to continue her charity project in and around Nima, Agbogbloshie and some deprived areas.

Currently, she said she has lost count of her movies but could tell it is over thirty movies. In the future, Nadia hopes to stride into Hollywood and later produce and direct her own movies.

John Dumelo on how he handles ladies
Submitted on 2009-11-19 04:45:11

Fast-rising Ghanaian move star John Dumelo, besides his dexterity on the screens, has also got the skill to manage girls. John told ‘News-One’ that he manages girls, when he was asked how he was handling most of his numerous female fans.

“The girls are there. You know, I am a very friendly person and I have a lot of female friends. Yes the girls, I manage them properly, I manage them properly. I give them time that I am free from this time to this time. So that is that,” he simply said.

As to what he really meant by managing girls, John would not explain any further. The tall gentleman, who started acting at the age of seven in the hit movie, ‘Baby Thief’, returned from Nollywood three weeks ago, where he is in hot demand. He thus confirmed ‘News-One’ reports that Nollywood producers were on his trail, beckoning him to their set. Even though he said it is tedious working on a lot of sets out there, he added that it is also fun and profitable working in Nigeria.“I initially went there to do two movies but I ended up doing more movies. I was working twenty-four hours. I finish one movie and move to another set. I was really working in Nigeria and I have been there for two months. As we speak now, I am supposed to be in Nigeria but I have to do some other movie for Abdul Salam.”

John also refuted claims that acting is totally distracting his attention from his real estate job. “Movie is not really pulling me away from my real estate job. Yes, it has limited my input into my real estate business but beginning of next year I have devised a new strategy to actually share my time accordingly.” John is expected to return to Nigeria in December to continue shooting, but he says he is likely going to stay home and launch his foundation before going. He would be embarking on a charity project where he would distribute books, pencils and other learning material to deprived basic schools.

Wande Coal colaborates with Samini
Submitted on 2009-11-18 14:37:00 (modified 2009-11-18 14:41:31)

Nigeria’s newest and sensational A-list artiste, Wande Coal has revealed that he is working on a single with Samini which is due for release this December. “I’m doing some work for R2Bees as well for their up-coming album”, he added.

According to him Samini and R2Bees are his personal friends and he is so elated working with them. Wande coal said he has been dazed by the massive support he has generated in Ghana in less than six months after his debut album. He said in an exclusive interview that “I never expected Ghana to love me this much. This is indeed my home and I love Ghana”.

Wande, who was the special guest artiste at the Miss Malaika Beauty pageant in Accra on Saturday, rocked the huge audience with his songs so much that within the twenty minutes which he was on stage, the whole conference centre was up standing, bopping to his fine tunes.

The last time the Nigeria artiste performed in Ghana before such a large audience was in April at the Ghana Music Awards where he came on stage to sing chorus for D’Banj. “At that time all I really had to boost about was my ‘Bumper to Bumper’ single which I’m sure was not really popular here at the time”.

Every single song on Wande Coals album dubbed ‘M2M (Mushin 2 Mohits)’ is nice and unique. “But I’m sure ‘You Bad’, ‘Bumper to Bumper’ and Taboo are doing extremely well”, he noted.

Within the first three weeks when the album was released it sold an overwhelming one million copies. “I’m really grateful to Don Jazzy for the massive support and I thank God for making my hustling worthwhile”, he said.
