Veteran musician, Nana Acheampong, has shared his thoughts on the quality of the content of music produced in recent times as compared to his era.

He stated that songs produced by musicians in recent times do not last longer in terms of popularity due to the content of the message they carry. He added that the premium is placed on dance rather than message.

The musician further explained that, during the old days, the songs contained words that advised and motivated people; hence, some of those songs remain relevant currently.

Speaking in an interview with Zionfelix monitored by GhanaWeb, Nana Acheampong reiterated the need for musicians in the current dispensation to focus on motivational messages to impact lives.

During the interview, the host, Zionfelix, asked, “People say that songs that are produced these days don’t stay for long because their popularity declines. Do you see it like that?

Nana Acheampong responded: "Yes, I see it that way. During our time, the message in our songs was different. It was full of advice and motivation. There are people who call me to tell me how my songs inspired and impacted their lives when they were young.

"These days, it’s all about dancing, so when it becomes too familiar, it loses its relevance, and then the next one comes. For our time, the concentration was on the message.”
