Kotey Neequaye now WBA rated no. 10

Samuel Kotey Neequaye has broken into the WBA world rankings, occupying the 10th spot just behind compatriot Rafael Mensah who is 9th in the latest boxing ratings released on August 12.

Neequaye moved a step closer to world championship reckoning after posting a split points’ decision victory over Doreen Spivey to claim the NABA Lightweight title on August 2 at the Bob Carpenter Center, Newark, Delaware, USA.

Now BOXING IN GHANA is reliably informed Neequaye who is promoted by former world champion, Miguel Cotto has been promised a shot at the world title early next year. Neequaye may have to take one more fight to get the chance and the Ghanaian is determined to win for his countrymen for their continued support.

“He added: “I dedicate this title to all Ghanaians and let them know this is just the beginning of greater things to come. All I ask for is their continued support and the world title will be delivered by the grace of God,” Neequaye said.
