GABF To Hold Workshop For Boxing Coaches

After an exhaustive consultation spanning over two years between the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation and its counterpart of the Federal Republic of Germany, an initiative taken by Ambassador Ray Quarcoo, Goodwill Sports Ambassador and the President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation, seeking to build a strong bilateral sports cooperation between the two countries, in pursuant to the GABF strategic medium term development plan, the German Federation in collaboration with German Olympic Committee, with funding from the Federal Foreign Office is finally sending a German Sports Expert, Mr. Christian Morales to Ghana to organize a 14 - Day Boxing Coaching Project.
The project which will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium is scheduled to start from 8th to 18th March, 2013, at 10.00am each day with open invitation to participation of all qualified boxing coaches with Level 2 or its equivalent certificates.
The workshop will focus on the areas of modern coaching methods/techniques, Strength and conditioning, health and nutrition among others. The Federation through this release is inviting all qualified coaches to register for the course at the Federation’s Secretariat at the Accra Sports Stadium before 7th March, 2013.
According to Ambassador Quarcoo, this exercise forms part of the Federation’s preparation to presenting a formidable team at future international outings, aiming at improving the fitness level and skills of the boxers; tactical and technical approaches of both boxers and trainers and more significantly, providing opportunities for international exposure to boxers, trainers and officials.
He intimated that this maiden programme is just the beginning of good things to come for sports development in the country and that; he is engaged in further consultation with his international associates across the world for replication of this programme in the various sports disciplines in the country.
