Yonso In The News

Citizens of Yonso near Jamasi in North America held its maiden Conference Call Meeting on October 31, 2009. This historic meeting was intended to bring all Yonso citizens in North America together to form an association through which developmental assistance would be channeled. The objectives of the association includes but not limited to providing educational assistance to schools, supporting developmental projects and helping association members in trouble times.

In setting a tone for the purpose of the meeting, the group was reminded among other things the need to contribute their “widow mite” to help raise the standard of the deprived students. It was further reminded that, small aid to schools will mean a lot and could go a long way to change lives of several children. In the time, when many elementary schools are failing in the country due to lack of facilities and school supplies, this initiative couldn’t have come at any better time like this. The group was reminded to eschew selfishness and work together to achieve their common objectives for their hometown and all the surrounding villages.

In order to expedite the incorporation of the association and obtain its legal standing for operation, the group selected executives to oversee the registration process. Sampson Nuro of Columbus Ohio, one of the key organizers of the meeting, was elected as the Secretary and contact person, William Opoku Agyemang of Savannah, Georgia was selected as the President and James Adu of Columbus was elected as Financial Secretary.

Other attendees of the meeting include Adonteng Asiamah (Canada), Baffour Agyemang (NY), Mary Baffour (NY), Gifty Akuamoa Boateng (IN), Emelia Boateng (MD), Mary Donkor (NY), Ellen Oppong (NJ), Esther Keels (NJ), Mercy Boabeng (NJ), Margaret Sefa (NJ), Bernard Boateng (MD), Augustina Yeboah (MA), Constance Nuro (VA) and Solomon Berkoe (NY).
