Chicago have a date for Ghana@ 54

The Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago (GNC) in collaboration with Neli Productions, NIMA Vibes, MOBEATZ, GFE , African Spectrum and 3G Media present one of a kind dance to commemorate Ghana@54 celebrations here in Chicago. The event, whose main sponsors are the Western Union, MoneyGram International, and Dish Network, will take place at 8316 S. Ellis Street, Chicago Illinois on March 5 2011 and starts at 9 P.M and runs untill 3 A.M. The venue is popularly known as “83rd and Ellis:” by Ghanaian patrons of the Southside Chicago Community Center. The gate fee is $20.00 per person. The organizers have lined up two of the best D.J‘s in town, Boogie and Bonsu , to spin the best and latest collection in their arsenals for the “itchy” dancing feet of Chicagoans. This is the first time the GNC has collaborated with seasoned promoters in the community to celebrate the historic Ghanaian independence in Chicago. On March 6, 1957, Ghana became the first African country, south of the Sahara to break the shackles of colonial rule in Africa. Ghana, thus, became the “Mecca” of not only African liberation movements but also the civil rights movement in the USA. It is in this vein that Ghanaians home and abroad celebrate Ghana’s independence with pride and reverence. Indeed as Ghana celebrates 54 years of Nation building and unity, many nations have disintegrated. Others are on the verge of disintegrating whilst turmoil and anarchy has gripped our neighbors and friends far and near. It is, therefore, appropriate that the GNC, members of the Ghanaian community especially, the African, and other communities celebrate Ghana’s day of Nationhood and the pace setting role it plays to Africans’ home and abroad.
