Marlon Anipa to run for Hohoe North NPP Primaries

Launching his candidature at a meeting of NPP UK and Ireland, Marlon Anipa said he has come to the decision to run after consulting widely within the party and listening to the issues of concern to constituents. He noted that “we are at a critical stage in the effort to consolidate democracy in Ghana. We are at a crucial stage in the real task of national development, the business of government. This period in the evolution of our great Party requires a truly broad based group, capable of reaching out to the thousands of Ghanaians living in Ghana and all over the world and providing the leadership, vision and direction that will allow us to contribute to the effort to address the major issues that confront the Hohoe North constituency and our country, Ghana”.

Marlon Anipa emphasised that together, we can contribute significantly to consolidating our hard earned democracy and to achieving the plan as set out in NPP’s manifesto, “our testament to the people of Ghana” he added.

Furthermore, Marlon Anipa identified the challenges we face as a country and called for a leadership that has the vision, purpose and dynamism to unite the NPP behind its common objectives. He called for a leadership that will consolidate the NPP position, grow its membership, and lead the debate on the issues that will redefine and reposition our country on the path of national development.

Marlon Anipa told the meeting that his objective is to work with the people of Hohoe North constituency and the local NPP executive to offer leadership. “My aim is to work with constituents to redefine and reshape our purpose and direction as a party and ultimately the destiny of our people. I want to work with all delegates and leadership of the NPP Hohoe North to ensure that we make tangible contributions to the efforts of our party to establish true democracy, and to chart a developmental path that will win our war against hunger, disease, and poverty for all Ghanaians and that will indeed be a true model for other developing countries. This is my life-long commitment to the NPP party. I am committed to this life time goal and will work assiduously to achieve it” he said to loud applause from members.

He gave an insight into what delegates and constituents can expect from him when he stated that “I have been a member of our party since its inception in 1992. I am committed to the vision of our founding fathers, the ideals of our great party, and the dream of bringing real positive change to all Ghanaians. These are the ideals I have worked for, and consistently championed over the last 25 years, from my formative years as a student leader through to organising the NPP in Volta Region to make such significant inroads in the Region as exemplified in previous elections. “Who says the Volta Region is a no-go area for the NPP?” he quizzed. “I hope everyone is thinking again” – he emphasised.

Marlon Anipa further promised to offer the inspired organisational and leadership ability needed and the values and qualities enshrined in teamwork and collaboration that will ensure electoral victory in 2012. “This is a call to service and I am committed to the higher ideals required to lead the NPP to a remarkable victory in the constituency” he said to deafening applause and chants of all-die-be-die.

Finally, he noted that “the forthcoming primaries are about the future of the party. It is about the issues we face as a nation”, he noted and appealed to the delegates to elect him as NPP Parliamentary candidate - Hohoe North which will give him the opportunity to “work and work and work for you, our great party and our dear county, Ghana”.

“The NPP will succeed. Nana Akufo-Addo will succeed. We will build our party from strength to strength. We will win the Hohoe-North seat in 2012. I trust I will have your support”, Marlon said in conclusion to wild cheers, support and enthusiastic applause.
