Creative industry loses another gem: Smart Frimpong, chief guitarist for Amakye Dede passes on

Veteran guitarist, Emmanuel Frimpong known in the music industry as Smart Frimpong has died.

The legendary instrumentalist according to his son, Bobby Ohene Frimpong who is the CEO of Salt Media Ghana, operators of Salt TV and Salt FM in Agogo, unfortunate death occurred on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 in the United States of America where he's been staying for some time now.

Smart Frimpong is a self-trained instrumentalist who has played with Abrantie Amakye Dede for decades after his initial tours with post-colonial highlife bands.

Family of the late Smart Frimpong is yet to present official announcement of his death to the public, MUSIGA, Creative Arts Council, the Ministry and various stakeholders.

"His demise is a big loss to the creative industry and we wish his family God's guidance and protection in this difficult times" — a statement on Salt Media GH online platform reads.
