Dear GhanaWeb: I am afraid something will happen to my manhood if I leave her

Dear GhanaWeb,

She made me swear with my manhood not to leave her the day I broke her virginity. She was 16 years old, and I was 27 years old.

I loved her very much and knew she was the lady I would marry someday; thus, I never thought twice about what I was getting myself into.

We’ve been dating for 6 years now, and I have reached the age where I would like to settle down. I proposed marriage to my girlfriend, and she gave me a negative response.

She’s at the university and complained that marriage would affect her education and career. She suggested I wait for her until she turns 30 years old.

I thought her parents would support my decision to marry their daughter, but they are siding with her, also contending that she is too young to get married.

Waiting for her means I would be over 40, and that is too long for me. I also can’t leave her because I’m scared the oath, I took might have consequences on my manhood if I leave her for another woman.

I’m at a crossroads and don’t know what to do.

What should be the best decision to take?
